I bring over 30 years of postgraduate experience, having worked across all sectors of the industry and held senior roles within some of the UK’s leading structural engineering firms.
My expertise spans steel and reinforced concrete frame design, industrial facilities, high-end residential properties, and numerous residential extensions incorporating basements, lofts, and swimming pools.
I maintain a hands-on approach to structural design and make full use of the latest software to deliver efficient, practical solutions.
Residential
We have an extensive track record delivering structural designs for high-end residential developments for developers including Applegate Homes, Redridge, and Size Group, have designed several luxury homes on the prestigious Wentworth Estate in Surrey.
At Brookwood Structures, we specialise in the successful delivery of high-value residential projects, where meticulous coordination between all design disciplines is critical. Our experience encompasses long-span structures with sensitive vibration requirements, the integration of extensive building services, deep basements, and the precise coordination of bespoke, heavyweight cladding systems. This expertise enables us to add value, manage risk, and ensure the highest standards of design quality are achieved.
Extentions
Brookwood Structures provide designs services for all aspects residential development including, new build, extensions, loft conversion, basements and swimming pools. As well as producing practical and efficient structural designs our expertise also includes addressing common challenges such as party wall considerations and building in proximity to trees.
We provide comprehensive drawing packages and detailed structural calculations to support Building Control submissions.
Concrete and Steel Frame Design
Our experience of both steel and concrete design spans over twenty years. The most recent concrete frame designs include residential developments at, Barking Riverside, Ealing Green Quarter, and Kidbrooke.
Brookwood Structures provides a full range of concrete design services, covering foundations, sub-structures, and superstructures, along with reinforcement detailing and bending schedules.
We also undertake basement design and can offer advice on construction methods, including waterproofing in accordance with BS 8102.
In terms of steelwork we recently designed a 2,250 m² steel portal-framed industrial facility and regularly design residential steelwork from mansard roofs to car ports..
In addition to traditional steel-framed buildings, we have extensive experience working with fit-out and MEP contractors to develop tailored steelwork solutions such as acoustic partition supports or the assessment of structures to accommodate new service penetrations or carry additional loads from modern building systems.
Structural Investigation and Reporting
There is often a need to inspect existing structures to establish the causes of movement or cracking, assess whether additional loads (such as an extra floor) can be supported, or evaluate the extent of damage from issues such as concrete spalling or carbonation.
Brookwood Structures undertakes structural surveys of existing buildings, providing detailed reports on condition and capacity, along with remediation proposals where required.
We are also experienced in preparing proof of evidence reports for use in legal proceedings, including planning disputes.
